Milos @ Kenney Marketing…
Milos was without doubt the most interesting guy I've ever met.
When he joined us in the spring of 1995, I really had no idea what to expect - except of course for what Charlie Cherry, who had worked with him before Charlie joined us a month earlier, told me about him:
"His English isn't very good, but he's a great designer. You'll like him." Charlie was right on all three counts.
Over the years, my respect for Milos - personally and professionally - grew enormously. Personally, he was a wonderful guy to have anywhere. He was extraordinarily smart, well-read, highly opinionated - but gracious in arguing his points - and provided a fascinating view of the world, politics, technology, business and virtually anything else under discussion.
Professionally, he was without equal. His work ethic was astonishingly strong. He relished his role as teacher to our younger staff, and was quite good at it. Clients loved him and his work, even if they didn't always fully understand everything this skinny, incredibly pale guy dressed all in black was saying. He was honest and committed to helping everyone he knew, from me to his other coworkers and on through everyone he had contact with at our clients. He was always available, understanding, courteous and charming.
Granted, his headlines didn't always make perfect sense ("Take look inside…" and also "So everybody gets a right fish…"). His expressions like "chewing the bones" (having a disagreement) took some interpretation. But as I often told him, his English was infinitely better than any of our Serbian. Plus, he left us with some stories we'll be retelling for years to come.
It's been said that our true immortality is in the remembrances of us by those who knew us best. Honestly, I'm not sure any of us could ever have truly known all that was Milos - there was just too much richness and depth to him, and we constantly learned more about him with every day.
But one thing is for certain. Milos will never be far from our thoughts. We miss him. And we will never forget him.
