Milos and the Dogs
If you have stories you would like to share about Milos' love of the dogs, please submit some of your thoughts. -- Yosh Hakutani, 18 January 2001
Daddy had a dog growing up that, of course, was the smartest dog that ever lived. He was a terrier, and Daddy kept his fondness for terriers throughout his life. He also took to a German Shepard while serving in the service in Yugoslavia. He bonded deeply with that dog, and regretted that they wouldn't let him take him when he left.
When Daddy met Mommy, it was a situation of "love her, love her dogs!" Mommy had two of us large mutts (me, Moses, a hound and my brother, Cromby, a Shepard/Rottie mix) that Daddy immediately adopted and he treated us like royalty.
About a year and half ago, our family made an addition of a third dog (my little sister, Saffron, a boxer/Rhodesian ridgeback mix) that Daddy absolutely spoiled to death. At 60-65 pounds, she still considers herself a lap dog and insists on getting into your lap in the rocking chair where Daddy held her as a puppy. Daddy really enjoyed photographing us during his work day at home and sharing the moments with friends through e-mail. We were often found sporting silly gear, like deer antlers and bunny ears.
Daddy once said that the only pure love was a dog's love. Well, that being so, Daddy loved us dogs like a dog.
Missing you,
Moses
