Milos' BMW K75 Motorcycle
Thoughts From a Friend:
Milos had owned a bike a long time ago when he lived in Europe and hoped to one day own another - preferably a BMW K75. Last year, after Anne bought a broken down old Yamaha, Milos found a reason to get his bike, too. (Someone had to have a reliable bike to ride home when the Yammie quit.) It didn't take long for him to find the bike he was looking for and he quickly became a BMW owner. Milos and Anne both completed the Motorcycle Safety Course and Milos rode regularly thereafter. Fortunately, his buddies from the race track also rode and this gave him the opportunity to put quite a few miles on his bike since just last May (probably 5,000 or so). He loved the bike and was a proud owner.

Thoughts From a Fellow BMW Motorcyclist:
I asked a fellow BMW motorcycle and VW Corrado enthusiast to write this. If you have stories you would like to share about the draw of a BMW motorcycle and people who choose to ride them together, please submit some of your thoughts. -- Jason Livingood, 17 January 2001
A BMW motorcycle has always been about freedom. Not just the freedom to ride, but the freedom to do it anytime - in any season and over any distance. One hallmark of BMW motorcycles it the ability to ride and to ride with confidence. BMW's claim to fame has always been technical innovation. Historically, the list of BMW firsts is very long. Notable technical innovations for motorcycles include shaft drive, anti-lock braking, fuel injection, electronic engine management, Paralever/Telelever suspension, and catalytic converters. Advanced technology combined with cutting edge styling that defines each model in terms of it intended purpose. Although designs are artistic and the technology is advanced, the bikes are not temperamental prima donnas. In fact, they are noted for the reliability and durability. Often you will find BMW motorcycles with more than 100,000 miles on the odometer. The usual comment you will hear is "100,000 miles…she's just broken in"! Regardless of the model, BMWs technical innovation, styling and attention to ergonomics make their motorcycles the easiest, the most forgiving and the safest to ride.
Another feature of owning a BMW motorcycle is being welcomed into the BMW "family". I write from my own experience. I am a relatively new rider and chose a 1971 BMW R75/5 for my first bike. I could have chosen a number of bikes that I fancy, but I've always been drawn to BMWs because I wanted my bike to have character and soul. Boy does it ever! I purchased my bike on the cheap and soon found out the reasons for it's low price. Mechanically it was in very poor shape. After several major break downs, I began a lengthy restoration process. I, however, was not alone in the task I had before me. I turned to the BMW Motorcycle Owners News and the Internet. Immediately I found a wealth of resources and people bending over backwards to provide mechanical assistance, loaning of tools, part sources, contacts, and technical information.
BMW riders seek each other out…they are always looking to expand the family. In my case, a chance meeting with a fellow BMW rider at a local motorcycle store while in search of parts, put me in touch with local BMW riders and riders in surrounding states. These contacts have become true, honest friendships whose camaraderie I've come to cherish. We meet for breakfasts, dinners, rides, parties and rallies. We share stories and celebrate in each other's joys, give support in each other's hardships, and share each other's sorrows. To this end, whether we know a BMW rider personally or not, they are "family". Milos, we all share in your celebration of life and extend our support to your family and loved ones.
In spirit,
