PURPOSE: I wanted indicators on both sides without drilling and mounting new signal lights in the fenders. PARTS: 2-Bosch 12V/30A Relays 8-Spade Connectors(to fit on relay contacts) 1-6 Feet Of 12 Gage Wire 1-Roll Of Electricial Tape 2-Tiewraps TOOLS: Cutters/Crimper Soldering Iorn Phillips Screwdriver Flathead Screwdriver Installation: 1-Remove side marker with phillips screwdriver 2-Cut the supply line (12vdc) wire 1" away from the bulb and place spade connectors on both ends of the wire 3-Connect the spade connectors to contacts 87a and 30 of Bosch relay. 4-Cut a 4" peice of wire and attach a spade connector at one end and plug it into contact 86 of relay. Take the other end of the wire attach it to ground (I soldered it to the brown wire going to the bulb for ground) 5-Cut 2.5' of wire and attach a spade connector at one end and plug it into contact 85 of relay. Pop out turn signal lamp in bumper with flathead screwdriver.Fish wire(connected to contact 85) and solder to positive line of turn signal bulb. 6-Tape up all connections and tiewrap relay to wiring harness of side marker lamp. 7-Repeat the above for the other side OPERATION: When the car is started your side markers automatically come on. When you give a turn signal the on/off voltage turns the relay on and off.The contacts 87a and 30 are wired in series with the supply line to the side markers. When you signal the relay energizes in turn breaking contact to the side marker, making it go on and off. |
