My hood was only releasing on one side, so I got tired of holding the driver's side down while releasing the latch. I lubed the cable where you can see it running on the radiator bulkhead. But the real improvement came by cleaning all the old grease from the male ends on the hood, and wiping a light new coat of grease on them. Voila! Works like new again.
