The CN Tower/Toronto skyline. In the background (just to the right of the crane) you can see the CN Tower. At 1815'5" its the tallest free standing structure in the world (we had to be several kilometers away just to fit it all into the picture). The CN Tower is used by broadcasters to transmit radio and television signals over a huge coverage area in Southern Ontario and Western New York State. Over a million tourists travel the elevators to the observation levels and restaurants/bars every year. As you can see in this picture tour, the view is can be both breathtaking and dizzying! The Toronto skyline continues on both sides of the tower; to the left is the Skydome (not visible in this picture) and to the right are other downtown skyscrapers including the Canada Trust building, First Canadian Place and Scotiabank Plaza.
Four Corrado-L regulars attended the photo shoot: John Campaner, who was visiting from Thunder Bay, Ontario, David Tam, Alex Minevich and Rob Koturbash. There was a red VR6, two red G60s and a black SLC.
The starting point for the meeting was Casa Loma, a castle which was built right in the middle of downtown Toronto in the early 1900's. After the introductions were over, we headed down to the harbourfront. It was a fun drive and we turned quite a few heads. One pedestrian was heard to remark, "There's three! No, look, there's four!". The first stop was Exhibition Place where we went for a spin on part of the road circuit of the Molson Indy Toronto where preparations for this year's race had just begun.
Here's the view from the on-board CorradoCam ;) of the straight approaching the Princess Gates. After a brief stop, we decided that we were quickly losing daylight and it was time for a drive to the lakeshore site where the skyline shot was taken (thanks to Rob for scouting out the excellent location).
While the photos were being taken, we had the opportunity to chat for quite a while. At the end of the evening, Rob and myself were treated to a spin in Dave's fully modified Stage II G60 and Alex's VR6. It was the first trip in a VR6 for me and I was very, very
impressed. The power and sweet song of the P-Flowed VR6 was simply awesome.
In all, it was great fun to meet other Corrado enthusiasts and I hope that we can get together again sometime soon. I second Andy's recommendation: If you haven't already been to an event, organize one in your area.
