Installing G60 Brake Ducts on a VR6

by Brian Jowett (hjowett@nasc.mass.edu)

Well, finally got around to installing some cooling ducts for the brakes on my VR6 today. The ducts are from a G60 (obviously). I have yet to the run the car down one of my favorite mountain passes, so I'm not sure how much these will prevent fade. My G60 never faded it's brakes, and the VR6 does, sooo... we'll see.

Install. hmmmm... the right side is almost straight bolt on. you have to open up the vents in the lower grill, and trim the opening in the wheel well liner. All the bolt holes etc. are there. Left side... not so easy. There's some metal that has to be trimmed away, it pretty much blocks the opening in the lower grill. I used a cutoff wheel to trim out the metal. There's plenty of room to cut the section out. After the metal is out of the way, the duct slides right in place. The towhook cover should be removed for best airflow into this duct.

Total time for the install was about 2 hours.
