I have put at least 30 hours worth of labor into my system. It puts out 460 watts RMS. The head unit and amps were purchased used, all speakers were bought new. All installation and wiring was done by me. I did a stealth install to maitain a stock look and hide all of the components.
The following pictures are of the installation
in my 1990 VW Corrado G60. They take a while to load, so read the
text while you wait. Links to car audio manufacturers and Crutchfield
are at the bottom.
Installation:
Head Unit |

Replacing the factory Aktiv/Heidelberg head unit takes some time, but the results are worth it. Most aftermarket head units fit perfectly in the Corrado's dash, but limited depth can be a problem if the wires stick too far out of the back of the head unit. If this is a problem, remove the rear bracket that held the Heidelberg in place.
Door Install |

The 5 1/4" Polk midranges fit perfectly and seal well in the factory holes. The tweeters required cutting holes in the doors, and are the only visible part of my system. The tweeter surrounds match the power window switch surrounds perfectly, so they look stock.
Amps/Subwoofer |

I mounted two amps, subwoofer, and Polk Crossovers
in the trunk, which is covered by the hatch panel so it is out of sight.
I have since replaced the MTX sub you see here with a Kicker Solo-Baric,
and the left amp for a Soundstream. All of my power and signal
wires go through the middle of the car, as you can see in the right picture
where I wired under the rear armrest. All speaker wires were run
through the side panels and door sills to prevent interference noise. Running
the signal wires next to the power wire can cause noise, but I used Streetwires
Musica 200 Series patch cables and have had no noise problems due to their
excellent insulation.
